Third Pass

Independent Digital Assurance

Independent digital assurance for products that need a closer look

Digital products are often tested by the same teams that design, build and maintain them. Third Pass provides an independent external review, examining how a website, application or digital service performs against defined expectations for accessibility, quality, resilience, privacy and responsible digital practice.

A Glare•9 service

A fresh set of eyes before problems become expensive

Digital products can appear complete while still containing accessibility barriers, fragile user journeys, performance problems, privacy concerns or technical weaknesses. These issues are often difficult for delivery teams to see because they are too close to the product or focused on meeting a launch deadline.

Third Pass examines the finished product from an independent perspective. The result is a clear, evidence-led assessment of what is working, what creates risk and what should be improved first.

What Third Pass can examine

  • Accessibility

Manual and automated checks covering keyboard use, screen readers, semantic structure, forms, contrast, zoom, reflow and alignment with WCAG expectations.

  • Performance

Review of loading behaviour, responsiveness, page weight, avoidable delays and user-facing performance issues.

  • Product quality

Assessment of broken journeys, error handling, browser and device behaviour, reliability and general product resilience.

  • Privacy implementation

Review of visible consent mechanisms, user information, data-minimisation indicators, preference handling and privacy-by-design evidence.

  • Security hygiene

High-level examination of common configuration risks, authentication behaviour, dependency exposure and secure-development indicators.

  • Maintainability

Review of technical structure, dependencies, lifecycle risks, implementation consistency and indicators of avoidable technical debt.

  • Responsible digital practice

Assessment of whether the product behaves transparently, protects users from foreseeable harm and supports appropriate escalation or human intervention.

Security hygiene review does not replace specialist penetration testing.

Designed for teams that need independent evidence

Third Pass is intended for organisations that need an external view of a digital product before a launch, handover, procurement decision, contract renewal or remediation programme.

  • Digital and software agencies preparing for client handover
  • Organisations inheriting a product from another supplier
  • Public-service and regulated organisations
  • Product teams approaching launch
  • Businesses responding to accessibility or quality concerns
  • Organisations seeking evidence for boards, clients or procurement teams
  • Investors or buyers conducting technical due diligence

Clear findings, not another automated score

Third Pass combines automated checks with manual investigation and professional interpretation. The purpose is not to produce a long list of minor observations, but to identify the issues that could harm users, delay procurement, weaken trust or create operational exposure.

  • An executive summary
  • A clearly defined assessment scope
  • Evidence-backed findings
  • Severity and priority ratings
  • Screenshots and reproduction details
  • Practical remediation guidance
  • A structured issue register
  • A findings meeting
  • An optional reassessment after changes have been made

Defined scope. Honest conclusions.

Third Pass assesses a product against an agreed scope, selected user journeys and stated criteria. Findings are based on the product version and environment examined at the time of the review.

Third Pass does not provide legal advice, accredited certification or a guarantee that a product is completely compliant, secure or free from defects. Specialist legal, regulatory or penetration-testing support may be recommended where appropriate. Third Pass will not describe a product as fully compliant or officially approved.

Give your digital product a proper third pass

Whether you are preparing for launch, accepting work from a supplier or trying to understand where risk has accumulated, Third Pass provides a practical independent view of what needs attention.
